One of my favorite psychologists
Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky (1896 - 1934). He was a
psychologist of Russian nationality. He was a great writer; his publications
covered such topics as child development, education, psychology of art and
language development. He was a key author in developmental psychology, also
made significant contributions in the field of neurophysiology and of course
among the most important things he did,Vygotsky, was the foundation of the
historical-cultural psychological approach.
One of his main theories and the one that interests me most is the Sociocultural theory of cognitive development. This theory emphasizes the idea that the proactive and collaborative interaction of children with their environment results in the correct cognitive development in the child. In other words, it holds that children develop their learning through activities that they perform in a shared manner, allowing them to internalize the thought and behavior structures of the society in which they are immersed, appropriating them.
I chose psychologist Vygotsky to speak in this post because when we saw him in the developmental psychology course (which is one of my favorites),He was one of the influential psychologists in the field of developmental psychology that most caught my attention. I enjoyed learning about his sociocultural theory and his concept of the "proximal developmental zone" Which is understood as the gap between what children are already capable of doing and what they cannot yet achieve on their own, but can achieve with the support of more advanced peers. Also, I liked the name jajaj
